Carlos Condit vs. Thiago Alves set as UFC Fight Night main event in Goiania

Following up on previous reports of Carlos Condit's planned UFC return, it looks like "The Natural Born Killer" will be in the main event of a May 30th Fight Night against Thiago Alves.

Carlos Condit's much-anticipated UFC return will be in enemy territory.

The exciting welterweight contender and former interim champion is set to fight Brazilian striker Thiago Alves in the main event of UFC Fight Night in Goiania, Brazil on May 30th. This booking first surfaced a few weeks back on UFC Tonight, but MMA Fighting has been told that this will officially serve as the main event.

Condit (29-8) has been out of action for a year after he tore his ACL and meniscus suffered in a loss to Tyron Woodley at UFC 171. The 2nd round stoppage due to his injured knee marked his first ever (T)KO loss, and dropped him to 1-3 in his last 4 fights. Meanwhile, Alves (21-9) has won his last two fights, including a stunning comeback against Jordan Mein at UFC 183, which ended with a devastating body kick TKO in the 2nd round. The former title challenger has been hampered by injuries since losing to Georges St-Pierre in 2009, and prior to this winning streak he hadn't recorded back-to-back wins since 2008.

This fight marks Alves' first bout in Brazil since the early phase of his career in 2003, while Condit has never competed in the country and hasn't fought outside of North America since knocking out Dan Hardy in England in 2010.

UFC Fight Night: Condit vs. Alves also includes a women's strawweight fight between Juliana Lima and Jessica Penne. The night's main card airs on Fox Sports 1.
