UFC Fight Night Rio free fight video: Demian Maia vs. Rick Story

Remember that time Demian Maia squeezed Rick Story's neck until he was literally bleeding out of his nose? Let's watch it again.

It's been just under 3 years since UFC welterweight and prolific submission artist Demian Maia's last submission win. The former middleweight title challenger had undergone a long drought after the unreal lateral drop to triangle choke stoppage of Chael Sonnen in 2009. A mixture of decision wins in addition to losses against Nate Marquardt and Anderson Silva put him on a 9 fight streak without a submission, but that run would come to an end in exhilarating fashion against Rick Story at UFC 153.

Story came into this Rio de Janeiro showdown as a slight underdog after a 1-2 stretch dropped him from his role as a title contender. Meanwhile, Maia won his welterweight debut vs. Dong Hyun Kim after Stun Gun suffered a major muscle spasm moments before he was taken down and mounted. Fans were treated to a vintage Demian Maia performance, as he took Story down and worked his BJJ wizardry on the American. Maia had Story's back and worked on a neck crank that was so tight that Story had blood streaming out of his nose before he tapped out. One must wonder how Demian Maia makes orange juice on a daily basis. This fight stands as Maia's last stoppage win and the only time Story has ever been finished by anyone.

Maia fights undefeated Ryan LaFlare in the main event of UFC Fight Night in Rio de Janeiro this Saturday.
