WSOF 20: Phoenix Jones vs. Emmanuel Walo set for April 10 on NBC Sports

Caped crusader Phoenix Jones (alter ego of Ben Fodor) was signed to World Series of Fighting (WSOF) without knowing his opponent on April 10th. That has now changed.

Last week, news that Phoenix Jones signed a deal with World Series of Fighting (WSOF) made waves in the mixed martial arts (MMA) world, as the crime fighting Seattle native, real name Ben Fodor, had recently been featured on SportsCenter.

While some would argue that it was a publicity stunt for the promotion, Fodor's record in competition is impressive: 5-0-1 as a pro and 15-2 as an amateur. That made it even more curious that his press release didn't name an opponent for what amounts to a quick debut on April 10 at the Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

Problem solved.

The superhero will now face a war hero as Fodor's opponent has been revealed as Emmanuel Walo (7-2-1), who hails from Jersey City, New Jersey, and served a combat tour in Iraq as a member of the National Guard.

"This is a match up between two of the most prolific prospects in our great sport," said WSOF President Ray Sefo. "And a fabulous addition to our first-ever event in Connecticut that is already stacked with a tremendous line up of talent."

The match bolsters a solid card for WSOF that already includes middleweight champion David Branch moving up to light heavyweight to face Ronny Markes in the other half of the WSOF light heavyweight tournament. Melvin Guillard takes on Ozzy Dugulubgov at lightweight, and Nick Newell faces Joe Condon to open the broadcast on NBC Sports.

More on those fights here.

True believers, mark April 10th on your calendar to see Phoenix Jones' WSOF debut!
