While the focus this week is on Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 63 event, next week’s show – and the rematch of a memorable heavyweight clash – is inching closer.
The UFC makes it debut in Poland debut UFC Fight Night 64 takes place April 11 at Krakow Arena in Krakow.
In the UFC Fight Pass-streamed headliner, Mirko Filipovic (30-11-2 MMA, 4-6 UFC) makes his surprising return to the UFC cage for a rematch with fellow heavyweight Gabriel Gonzaga (16-9 MMA, 11-8 UFC).
“Cro Cop” made a highly anticipated and long-awaited UFC debut in 2007, but what ended up being two separate UFC stints failed to live up the success and theatrics he produced during a legendary run with the now-defunct PRIDE organization. In fact, it was Gonzaga who delivered Filipovic his first UFC loss back in 2007. And Gonzaga, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, actually used Filipovic’s go-to weapon – a high kick – to get the win.
Check out the above video for a look at their first meeting and what’s in store for the rematch.
