Sara McMann wants Cat Zingano UFC fight next, but 'Alpha' wants to take things slow

On paper, the fight makes all the sense in the world.

Sara McMann wants to throw down with Cat Zingano, but "Alpha" isn't quite sold on the idea.

That's according to a report form "UFC Tonight," which revealed that the former Olympic medalist, McMann, is eager to step back into the Octagon against the former No. 1 contender later this year, via her manager Monte Cox. But according to FOX's Ariel Helwani, Cat is at a point where she wants to take things slow.

Cat is coming off a 14-second loss to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight champ, Ronda Rousey, at UFC 184 (see it again here). The loss marked the first of her MMA career after reeling off nine straight.

As for McMann, she too came up short in her bid to dethrone "Rowdy" back at UFC 170, but managed to last a whole 50 seconds longer than Cat did against the dominant champion.

She followed up that performance with a win over Lauren Murphy a few months later, only to suffer her second loss in MMA to Miesha Tate in a highly-entertaining fight at UFC 183.

Highlights.

Since most ladies in the top half of the women's 135-pound division are already booked for fights, it seems a contest between McMann and Zingano is a match made in heaven. Of course, Sean Shelby has to put his communication skills to the test and convince Cat to agree to the showdown.

Anyone opposed?
