After suffering a shocking upset loss at UFC Fight Night: Gonzaga vs. Cro Cop 2, Joanne Calderwood is confirming rumors that she's been going through some problems in her personal life leading up to this bout.
When fans talk about how prepared a fighter is going into a bout, the conversation usually revolves around two things, the skill matchup, and injuries. If a fighter isn't injured and has put in the work in training we expect that they should be in the best possible position to perform on the day. Of course, that's not always the case. There's always a human component as well, an emotional component, and it's effects are much tougher to measure or prepare for.
Coming off a shocking upset loss to Maryna Moroz at UFC Fight Night: Gonzaga vs. Cro Cop 2, Joanne Calderwood isn't blaming her loss on problems in her personal life, but she did want to send a message to fans who may have heard she's been going through some turmoil lately. Calderwood posted the following message on twitter:

Of course, there's no telling how the fight would have gone, had Calderwood's head been in the game, Moroz still looked like an absolute beast out there. Still, it's a good reminder that athletes often have a lot more going on in their lives outside of their training camp and their fights.
