UFC on FOX 15: Latest Vegas odds, lines and betting guide for 'Machida vs Rockhold' in Newark

Get a detailed breakdown of the betting lines for UFC on FOX 15 event that is set to hit Prudential Arena in Newark, N.J., this weekend (Sat., April 18, 2015,), including best bets, underdogs, favorites and much more.

"The Dragon" versus the ... rock holder guy? Dude needs a nickname.

Two elite Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight stars with five combined finishes in their last six victories will duke it out on free television this Saturday (April 18, 2015) when Lyoto Machida -- who was last seen knocking out C.B. Dollaway in 62 seconds -- takes on former Strikeforce champ Luke Rockhold -- who looks to earn his first-ever UFC title shot -- in UFC on FOX 15's five-round main event.

While those two grace the headlining spot inside Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., another Top 5-ranked Middleweight, Ronaldo Souza, will return to action one fight prior. With Yoel Romero injured, "Jacare" will face former victim Chris Camozzi, who is currently a 9-to-1 underdog.

Cub Swanson will also make his first appearance since losing to Frankie Edgar, taking on surging prospect Max Holloway at 145 pounds.

As mentioned, the whole thing's free. Here's how to go from breaking even to making bank:

UFC On FOX 15 Odds For The Under Card:

Beneil Dariush (-175) vs. Jim Miller (+155)

Patrick Cummins (-130) vs. Ovince St. Preux (+110)

Corey Anderson (-320) vs. Gian Villante (+260)

Aljamain Sterling (-290) vs. Takeya Mizugaki (+245)

Tim Means (-150) vs. George Sullivan (+130)

Diego Brandao (-175) vs. Jimy Hettes (+155)

Eddie Gordon (-400) vs. Chris Dempsey (+325)

Thoughts: You know what I’m thinking? I’m thinking underdogs this week. Miller and Mizugaki strike me as undervalued.

Dariush is a terrifically-skilled fighter competing out of Kings MMA, which took Rafael dos Anjos to the top of the Lightweight division. Unfortunately for him, Jim Miller is Jim Miller. The bearded bruiser is well-rounded, extremely consistent and has nearly thrice the professional experience of Dariush. In addition, the Iranian took this fight on little more than one month’s notice.

For what’s likely a 50/50 fight, Miller being the under dog makes a bet on him statistically wise.

Mizugaki should be the under dog to Sterling, who has been on peoples' radars for quite some time as one of the best up-and-coming Bantamweight prospects. However, +245 sorely undersells the Japanese veteran, who rattled off five straight wins in a very tough division before running into Dominick Cruz. Mizugaki has greatly improved his offensive and defensive wrestling and ought to be able to force Sterling to trade, using his relentless assault to take the decision.

Therefore, a moderate bet on Mizugaki seems about right.

UFC On FOX 15 Odds For The Main Card:

Luke Rockhold (-145) vs. Lyoto Machida (+125)

Ronaldo Souza (-1375) vs. Chris Camozzi (+900)

Cub Swanson (-145) vs. Max Holloway (+125)

Paige VanZant (-140) vs. Felice Herrig (+120)

Thoughts: More under dogs? More under dogs. Holloway and Herrig are your picks of choice for the main card.

I’ve been high on Holloway for a while -- he’s one of the slickest strikers in the division. In addition, both his takedown defense and Brazilian jiu-jitsu have improved considerably. Though he has had his struggles, they’ve come against opponents with similar length. The 5’7" Swanson does not fall into that category. Holloway will enjoy a four-inch height advantage, which should allow him to strike to his full capabilities.

I expect him to outwork and pick apart Swanson on the feet ... so bank on it.

VanZant has the looks and the promotional push, but I’m not sure why she’s favored here. Herrig has three times as many fights (against much better competition) and ought to have the technique advantage. VanZant, while packing good cardio and an impressively relentless attack, is going to struggle to overpower Herrig the way she did Kailin Curran.

While I am in no way a fan of "Lil’ Bulldog," I do think she’ll get the win here.

UFC On FOX 15 Best Bets:

  • Single bet -- Jim Miller: Bet $30 to make $46.50

  • Single bet -- Takeya Mizugaki: Bet $20 to make $49

  • Single bet -- Max Holloway: Bet $50 to make $62.50

  • Single bet -- Felice Herrig: Bet $40 to make $48

Yeah, no Romero means the co-main is crap. The rest of the card's still damn good, though.

See you there, Maniacs!
