Not to be outdone, amateur MMA fighter Sheldon Reid threw his name into the mix for Knockout of the Year with a front kick knockout.
At Shinobi War 7, Reid took on Julio Calcina in a bantamweight bout in Liverpool, England.
The two were clinched along the fence when Calcina connected with a low blow. The referee halted the action and restarted the two when Reid was ready. And he certainly was. The front kick KO came just seconds after the restart.
Reid's kick landed at the moment Calcina planted his feet, which only made it more powerful. Calcina was out right when it connected and face-planted on the canvas below. The KO earned Reid a cash bonus of £1,000.
Reid is now 3-0 as an amateur and should start thinking about turning pro after this violently beautiful knockout.
