The UFC's Dan Henderson announced Friday that his fight against Michael Bisping at UFC 204 on Oct. 8 will be the final one of his career, via ESPN.com's Arash Markazi.
Henderson is 32-14 in his career and coming off a win at UFC 199 over Hector Lombard on June 4.
But the win was a rare one, as his recent run of form in the Octagon hasn't been pretty. In his eight fights before the Lombard clash, Henderson had won just two times.
He suffered three first-round knockouts in that span, which was quite a fall from grace for a man who held the middleweight title on three different occasions from 2005 to 2011.
During Henderson's dominant spell, Bisping was one of his victims when the two fought at UFC 100 on July 11, 2009.
Henderson dropped Bisping with a vicious right-handed haymaker in the second round that was voted Knockout of the Night. UFC President Dana White shared the replay:
But Bisping will be keen on getting revenge on Henderson, who will turn 46 on Wednesday, as he's been in better form recently.
The Englishman, who will be on his home turf in Manchester at UFC 204, has won his past four fights, including a first-round knockout against Luke Rockhold for the middleweight belt.
While Henderson isn't favored to take down the champ—Bisping's the 2-5 favorite, per Odds Shark—a shock win or just an entertaining bout would be a solid way for the veteran to bow out of the Octagon.
