Anthony Johnson: Anderson Silva's team could be at fault for multiple failed drug tests

Because as "Rumble" puts it, fighters put their trust in their team, no questions asked.

After a few months, the dust left behind by Anderson Silva's multiple failed drug tests seems to be dying down a bit.

Still, that hasn't stopped many of "The Spider's" colleagues from chiming in on the situation. Some, like former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight kingpin Anthony Pettis, are standing behind Silva and are refusing to label him a cheat.

A sentiment No. 1 light heavyweight contender Anthony Johnson shares, as he tells Fight Hub (via MMA Fighting) that he doesn't believe Silva cheated his way to his legacy. As far as the failed drug tests, he wasn't too surprised, seeing as how it seems to be the norm these days.

But as "Rumble" see it, the fault may not be totally on Silva's hands.

"It was disappointing, but with the way guys are getting popped left and right it doesn't surprise me. A lot of times I think these fighters, you know, we've got our coaches, our trainers, people that we trust and sometimes they just say, 'Here, take this.' We trust them so we take it. Sometimes you just don't ask questions about what is it. You just take their word for it because they've been in your corner for so many times. You just take it. You don't think twice about it. You think it's something good for you. Once again, you trust them. In Anderson's case, just for me, I just think that's what it was. I don't think Anderson's really ever been a cheater. He's been a showboater, we know that. That's who he is. He makes the fights entertaining. I don't think he's ever been to the point where he's used something illegal to be the fighter that he is."

Though Anderson has denied any wrongdoing, he hasn't thrown anybody under the bus, either. But his friends have, as Antonio Silva says doctors' are to blame for the positive results.

Regardless of who others believe is at fault, the truth may finally come out when Silva eventually stands before the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) to answer for his transgressions.
