Dana White interested in Alistair Overeem vs. Junior dos Santos next

UFC President Dana White suggested that Alistair Overeem’s next fight could be against former champion Junior dos Santos, if the Dutchman wants it.

Following an impressive, albeit tentative, performance from on Saturday night against Roy Nelson, UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem is already being thrust into new berths moments after earning the victory.

Athough Overeem put on one of the best performances of his career at UFC 185, when he outstruck Nelson with a varied arsenal of kicks and knees to the body to keep the heavy-hitting puncher at bay for the 15-minutes duration of the bout, UFC President Dana White still found himself wishing for more from the Dutchman.

"Alistair looked better than he's ever looked, I just wish he had more killer instinct," White said. "He had Roy hurt at one point. He doesn't like to take risks, but he looked good tonight."

Now on a two-fight win streak, Overeem is running out of high-level heavyweights in the UFC's appallingly shallow division, which is why White suggested a match-up against former champion Junior dos Santos could be the next logical step for Overeem. However, the former Strikforce champion has to also be interested in the bout.

"I like it," White said. "Does Overeem like it?"

The reason for White's cynicism against Overeem is because he claimed that the Dutch striker turned down a fight with JDS back in 2014, even though Overeem later explained that he was injured. Now, years after the fight was originally talked about, the two heavyweights might finally cross paths in the octagon.
