Lion Fight Muay Thai coverage: Previews, results, news and more

With the rising popularity of Glory's shows on Spike TV, along with the recent debut of Legacy Kickboxing, now is a good time to be a kickboxing fan in the US. For the first time in years, there are multiple kickboxing companies you can check out. This Friday, there's more quality stand-up action for you.

Lion Fight 20 airs this Friday, February 20 at 9:00 p.m. ET live on AXS TV. The latest from Lion Fight Promotions, Lion Fight 20 features some exciting match-ups that are absolutely worth a watch for both the hardcore kickboxing fan and the novice.

Before moving on, it's worth pointing out that, as opposed to Glory, Lion Fight prides itself on being traditional Muay Thai, not Glory/K-1 style kickboxing (in fact, I've surely angered many out there already by somewhat lumping them in together). That means that you will see 5 round fights instead of 3, plus a wider range of allowed techniques including elbows, knees from the clinch, and throws. To fans of pure Muay Thai, it's that range of techniques that makes this the true premiere stand-up art of combat.

In the main event at Lion Fight 20, the 36-0 Women's Welterweight champion Jorina Baars defends her title as she faces Chantal Ughi (32-14). Baars made a name for herself in March of last year when she upset Cristiane Justino (Cris Cyborg), defeating the heavily hyped Justino via decision to claim the title and hand Justino her first professional loss since 2005. The Dutch fighter has been on the sidelines since and makes her return here. These two women met in 2009 with Baars scoring a decision win - the rematch should be a good one.

The co-main event sees Thailand's Sittisak (65-12) take on Chris Mauceri (7-1) - always good to see what the Thai fighters bring to the ring. Elsewhere on the card, you have the popular and entertaining Jason Andrada taking on John Nofer. Get the full fight card below.
