DALLAS – Saturday’s UFC 185 event drew an announced attendance of 17,160 for a live gate of $2.155 million.
UFC President Dana White announced the figures at the post-event news conference, which MMAjunkie attended.
UFC 185 took place at American Airlines Center in Dallas. The main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and UFC Fight Pass.
In the main event, lightweight champion Anthony Pettis put his title on the line against Rafael dos Anjos, but despite being a heavy favorite, he was dominated by the challenger and the belt changed hands.
And in the co-feature, inaugural women’s strawweight champ Carla Esparza defended her belt against Joanna Jedrzejczyk. But Esparza had next to nothing to offer the Polish challenger, who got a second-round TKO with relative ease to win the title.
The attendance was down from the UFC’s first two visits to American Airlines Center. UFC 103 in September 2009 drew 17,428 fans for a $2.4 million gate. A year ago this same weekend, UFC 171 drew 19,324 fans for a $2.6 million gate. At that event, Johny Hendricks, who beat Matt Brown on Saturday’s card, won the welterweight title against Robbie Lawler – who took the belt from him at UFC 181 in December.
