Winner gets a title shot at either Ronda Rousey or Bethe Correia.
Now that the Ronda Rousey vs. Bethe Correia bantamweight title fight is signed, sealed, and soon-to-be delivered for UFC 190, which is expected to go down inside HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Aug. 1, 2015, it's time to start lining up the next title contender.
And that's just what Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) plans on doing this summer, as the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion has booked a No. 1 contender fight between Miesha Tate and Jessica Eye.
Date and location to be determined.
It was actually Rousey who broke the news during today's (March 20, 2015) UFC 189 press conference (watch it), as she spilled the beans by looking to face either Tate or Eye once she gets through Bethe in Rio. According to White, the plans weren't to talk about the proposed match up so soon, but since the queen of MMA wanted to, it's all good.
Despite her best lobbying efforts, Eye came up short in her bid to claim the title fight against "Rowdy," so she'll have to settle for the next best thing, as a win over "Cupcake" gets her to the big dance.
As for Tate -- who was in the audience and confirmed the match up -- she has the opportunity to get another crack at the 135-pound belt and perhaps a trilogy fight with Rousey if she can top "Evil" when the two talented ladies throw down this summer.
Keep it tuned to MMAmania.com as more details surface from their developing story.
