The June 19th Bellator card at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis has been updated with a world title fight in the co-main event. Patricio "Pitbull" Freire will defend his featherweight title against "Insane" Georgi Karakhanyan.
There's never a bad time to make a good card better.
Bellator MMA has revealed that its upcoming "Unfinished Business" card on June 19th at the Scottrade Center headlined by Ken Shamrock vs. Kimbo Slice now has a co-main event.
Bellator featherweight champion Patricio "Pitbull" Freire, coming off a successful title defense at Bellator 132 in January, will now face former World Series of Fighting (WSOF) champion "Insane" Georgi Karakhanyan, who made a successful return to Bellator in the co-main event of the same show against Bubba Jenkins.
The two competitors know each other of old. Karakhanyan faced Freire during Bellator's season four featherweight tournament and lost that fight by TKO. In a pre-fight interview with MMAmania.com, Karakhanyan wanted to avenge that loss.
"The ultimate goal is like I said: I feel like I got beat by Patricio and (I want) to get that revenge back."
He finally gets that chance on June 19th in St. Louis, but "Pitbull" says it's not going to happen.
"Karakhanyan is a fighter among the top of the weight class, but I'm one dimension above. If you see a fight where I'm not hit from a single attack don't be surprised. I'm preparing to not being hit and I guarantee to show absolute superiority in this new challenge!"
