Ronda Rousey's close friend Marina Shafir has signed with Invicta FC.
The fourth Horsewoman has signed a professional contract with Invicta FC. Marina Shafir, a close friend of UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, will join the company in the 145-pound weight class.
The 26-year-old judoka has gone 1-1 as a pro so far, winning her debut by armbar early in 2014 but getting knocked out in just 37 seconds in her second bout in August.. She went 5-0 as an amateur, finishing all five by submission in the first round.
Shafir is probably best known as a member of the Four Horsewomen, all of whom are friends with Rousey. Besides Rousey and Shafir, members include UFC fighters Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler.
She announced the signing as a guest on the MMA Roasted Podcast. She didn't share when her debut would take place or who she might compete against.
The Invicta FC featherweight title is currently held by Rousey's rival Cris Cyborg, but she has indicated that she will be dropping to 135 pounds for her next bout. The promotion's next show takes place on April 10th in Kansas City.
