World Series of Fighting (WSOF) recently announced that MMA legend Renzo Gracie will be providing special guest color commentary for this weekend's WSOF 20: "Branch vs. Markes" card on April 10th.
He was last seen inside the cage at UFC 112 in 2010 facing Matt Hughes, but on Friday night (April 10, 2015), Renzo Gracie will be beside the cage.
The World Series of Fighting (WSOF) decagon, to be exact.
WSOF released a statement earlier this week noting that Gracie will serve as special guest color commentator alongside veteran play-by-play announcer Todd Harris.
President Ray Sefo offers this explanation:
"It is an honor to be able to have an all-time great and member of MMA’s First Family like Renzo Gracie join the WSOF team and call our fights from cageside. The keen, technical insight that Renzo has the ability to provide should be a real treat for fans tuning into the NBCSN telecast, which is loaded with some of the world’s top martial arts fighting talent."
Gracie's insight includes his 13-7-1 (1) record as a professional fighter and the who's-who of fighters who have learned Gracie jiu-jitsu from him, including Chris Weidman, Frankie Edgar, and Matt Serra, just to name a few. Gracie previously worked with WSOF on "Unstoppable: Road To The Championship," a 90-minute special NBC aired back in December.
Friday night's fights will be headlined by a light heavyweight tournament bout between David Branch and Ronny Markes, a lightweight war between Nick Newell and Joe Condon, and the promotional debut of Ben Fodor, also known as "Phoenix Jones."
So, who's tuning in?
