UFC Fight Night 63: Latest Vegas odds, lines and betting guide for 'Mendes vs Lamas'

Get a detailed breakdown of the betting lines for UFC Fight Night 63 event that is set to hit Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va., this weekend (Sat., April 4, 2015,), including best bets, underdogs, favorites and much more.

They may have missed out on an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) title, but that doesn't mean they can't kick ass.

After coming up short in his second bid for Featherweight gold, Team Alpha Male standout Chad Mendes will look to prove he's still a force to be reckoned with this Saturday (April 4, 2015) when he takes on Ricardo Lamas, who last seen choking out the surging Dennis Bermudez.

Mendes and Lamas will lock horns in the FOX Sports 1-televised main event of UFC Fight Night 63 from Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia.

The card will also feature a set of contenders 10 pounds north as Chris Weidman stablemate Al Iaquinta will face American Top Team's Jorge Masvidal in the co-main event, while The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 15 winner Michael Chiesa faces unexpected riser Mitch Clarke.

The whole thing's free, but let's see if we can't earn you enough dough for the next few pay-per-view's:

UFC Fight Night 63 Odds For The Under Card:

Liz Carmouche (-115) vs. Lauren Murphy (-105)

Alexander Yakovlev (-125) vs. Gray Maynard (+105)

Shamil Abdurahimov (-265) vs. Timothy Johnson (+225)

Justin Jones (-130) vs. Ron Stallings (+110)

Thoughts: The money’s in the "105s" both negative and positive: Murphy and Maynard.

As fond as I am of Carmouche, her game isn’t hard to figure out. If she can outmuscle her opponents and score consistent takedowns, she wins. If she can’t, she loses. Against a physical powerhouse like Murphy, I don’t envision her having all that much success.

I’d prefer if the line was actually in the positives, but I’d say there’s still value there.

Maynard’s chin is gone. I have absolutely no doubts of that. That said, Yakovlev has looked so awkward on his feet in his two UFC appearances that it’s hard to envision him cracking even Maynard’s degraded jaw. Yakovlev’s the sort of straightforward wrestler who "Bully" ought to be able to overpower without too much fear of getting clipped.

Bet accordingly.

UFC Fight Night 63 Odds For The Main Card:

Chad Mendes (-440) vs. Ricardo Lamas (+350)

Jorge Masvidal (-135) vs. Al Iaquinta (+115)

Michael Chiesa (-350) vs. Mitch Clarke (+290)

Julianna Pena (-270) vs. Milana Dudieva (+230)

Clay Guida (-250) vs. Robbie Peralta (+210)

Dustin Poirier (-185) vs. Diego Ferreira (+160)

Thoughts: The main card, like the "Prelims," has one appealing under dog and an undervalued favorite. In this case, it’s Iaquinta and Guida, respectively.

Masvidal is, without question, an incredibly talented individual. He’s got seriously crisp boxing, an effective takedown game and some of the best takedown defense in the entire division. Two things hold him back, aside from the nebulous concept of "inconsistency:" A lack of finishing instincts and a worrying tendency to get cracked. He’s finished one fight since knocking out Satoru Kitaoka in 2009 -- that’s one finish in his last 13 fights. In addition, three of his last five opponents (Chiesa, Rustam Khabilov and Daron Cruickshank) have sent him to the canvas.

Iaquinta is on a rampage through the division and I can definitely see his superior firepower carrying him past "Gamebred."

As far as Guida is concerned, my dislike for him is both intense and well-documented. But, that doesn’t mean I don’t know a mismatch when I see it. Peralta -- though he’s got bricks for hands -- seems bafflingly lost on his back and his takedown defense is hit-or-miss. This has all the signs of a classic Guida grindfest; I wouldn’t even be surprised if he managed to hit a submission.

Use him in your parlays and reap the benefits.

UFC Fight Night 63 Best Bets:

  • Parlay -- Lauren Murphy and Clay Guida: Bet $40 to make $69.20

  • Single bet -- Gray Maynard: Bet $40 to make $42

  • Single bet -- Al Iaquinta: Bet $30 to make $34.50

Two men with a knack for nasty finishes in the main event and plenty of finishers throughout. Ought to be a fun watch at the very least.

See you Saturday, Maniacs!
