Strawweight up-and-comers Joanne Calderwood and Maryna Moroz kicked off the UFC Fight Night 64 Fight Pass main card this afternoon inside Krakow Arena in Krakow, Poland.
And it did’t take long for Moroz to finish the No. 6-ranked Calderwood.
Both women came out firing, but it was Moroz who did the most damage, landing a straight shot that seemed to stun The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 20 alum. It was all downhill from that point forward.
In a scramble along the cage, Moroz pulled guard while she had Calderwood in a headlock. "Iron Lady" then quickly angled for an arm bar, which Calderwood defended well for a bit, but as she tried to pull out and shuck off the Ukranian, she just tightened her submission and forced a tap 90 seconds into the first round.
Pretty impressive for an Octagon debut, one highlighted by calling out the division champion, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, who was sitting ringside and eventually found her way into the Octagon to say a few words.
Maybe not next, but if Moroz keeps it up, sooner than later.
