The UFC has found a last minute foe for Ronaldo Souza, who fights in the UFC on Fox 15 co-main event next Saturday in New Jersey.
One day after it was reported that middleweight contender Yoel Romero was forced out of his UFC on Fox 15 co-main event against Ronaldo Souza, the UFC found a last minute replacement, and he's a familiar foe. Chris Camozzi returns to the Octagon after being released in October, and he'll once again face Jacare on short notice. The UFC announced the new match-up during the Cro Cop vs. Gonzaga 2 main card.
Camozzi (19-9) was submitted by Jacare in the former Strikeforce champion's Octagon debut in 2013. The TUF 11 alumnus replaced the injured Costas Philippou on that occasion, and he finds himself in the exact same situation two years later. He was released from the UFC following 4 straight defeats, including a controversial one to Rafael Natal in September that resulted in his pink slip. Consecutive 1st round finishes outside of the promotion have brought him back to the UFC for a 2nd crack at the dangerous Brazilian, who has won 7 straight dating back to 2011.
UFC on Fox 15 is headlined by a five-round middleweight main event between Lyoto Machida and Luke Rockhold, who stands to date as the last man to defeat Jacare.
