USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie rankings, April 14: Branch eyes historic win

It wasn’t that long ago that Dave Branch (16-3) seemed like his best days were behind him. Now the WSOF middleweight champion is on the verge of accomplishing a very rare feat.

With his weekend win at WSOF 20, Branch set himself up for an opportunity to become just one of a handful of athletes who have won belts in major organizations in more than one weight class – and of even less who have done so simultaneously.

Branch didn’t move up in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA middleweight rankings, despite his light heavyweight victory over Jesse McElligott at this past weekend’s event, and he now sits at No. 14.

But earning a second belt, even in a different division, might force a change in that list.

Check out all the rankings above.
