Kings MMA product and UFC lightweight Beneil Dariush has a huge opportunity in front of him on just three weeks notice.
Beneil Dariush has the biggest fight of his career lined up for him under unexpected circumstances. The lightweight prospect out of Rafael Cordeiro's Kings MMA gym in California is stepping in for Paul Felder opposite Jim Miller on the preliminary card of UFC on Fox: Machida vs. Rockhold on April 18th in Newark, New Jersey's Prudential Center. Felder was forced to withdraw after suffering a knee injury and his timetable is unknown at this point.
Dariush (10-1) looked fantastic in his last outing against Daron Cruickshank at UFC 185, hammering the TUF 15 fighter with body kicks before putting his BJJ black belt to great use by taking his back and sinking in a rear-naked choke for the 2nd round submission victory. The 25-year-old is 4-1 in the UFC with his only setback coming via TKO to Ramsey Nijem last year in Abu Dhabi.
Miller (24-5, 1 NC) is making his return after suffering a head kick KO loss to Donald Cerrone in Atlantic City. It marked the first time that he'd ever been finished with strikes, and it's the third time overall he'd been stopped in his past six fights. The New Jersey native's most recent wins are 1st round submissions of Yancy Medeiros and Fabricio Camoes. Miller is presently ranked 12th in the UFC's lightweight top 15, and still represents the toughest opponent Dariush has faced to date.
UFC on Fox 15's preliminary card will also be televised on the big Fox network prior to the main card, which features a headlining middleweight clash between Lyoto Machida and Luke Rockhold.
