Jeremy Stephens vs. Dennis Bermudez booked for UFC 189

An already-stacked UFC 189 card will feature another bout between ranked fighters in the featherweight division.

UFC 189 is slowly starting to fill out. We already know that the featherweight title is on the line in the July 11th Vegas event, as evidenced by the world tour featuring champion Jose Aldo and challenger Conor McGregor. Now the UFC has added a second 145-pound bout to the bill, with Dennis Bermudez facing off against Jeremy Stephens.

Bermudez (14-4, 7-2 UFC) took a seven-fight win streak into his bout with Ricardo Lamas at UFC 180, but was submitted in the first round. He is currently ranked at number six in the UFC's featherweight division in the official UFC rankings.

Stephens (23-11, 10-10 UFC) entered the featherweight division in mid-2013 with his job on the line, and he was able to deliver with three straight wins. Consecutive losses to Cub Swanson and Charles Oliveira have him worried about his job security once again though.

The bout will likely take place on the undercard. UFC 189 will feature two title fights on top, with Aldo/McGregor for the featherweight title and Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald for the welterweight title.
